Thank you to all the team who have spent most of the week working in the rain on Film, Television, Commercials and Traffic Management projects this week, a months worth of rainfall fell in one day in some areas and it highlights the importance of having waterproof boots, over trousers, jacket with hood and umbrella.
The Met office states that the average rainfall in Britain is 1,154mm per year. On average it rains for 156.2 days per year, so getting wet in the first hour and having to stand in it all day does inspire you to visit the outdoor or sailing shop outlets.
In some positions, shelter from the rain might be available but despite the weather, producers will endeavor to continue filming after all the hard work that has gone into organizing the shoot and it means all the crew will have to brave the elements.
As film and TV operatives who work outside, we should research we know what the weather for the following day is and ensure we have the appropriate clothing and accessories at hand for sun, cold and rain and kept in a rucksack or stored in your vehicle.
